Liber Ludorum (special ed.) Playing Cards

A deck of playing cards with designs based on the art style of the medieval insular gospel books ...

Liber Ludorum ... the book of games. A set of playing cards by Ian Cumpstey, drawn and decorated with the styles and patterns of the great medieval illuminated masterpieces, most famously exemplified by the Lindisfarne Gospels and the Book of Kells. The aces are patterned as miniature carpet pages. The court cards are drawn in the style of the evangelist portraits with illuminated borders, but play on ideas associated with gameplay. All drawn in pen and ink and coloured with watercolour.
